A February Post…

Think hard. Who has shown you unconditional love? No strings attached. No “I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine” type of condition.

Who has freely given without expecting anything back? This world, this age is steep into “conditions”. From individuals who give expecting something double in return. To people raising their own children, who will not truly love and nurture them because they are not “normal” or a good boy/girl or they first have to do something “great”.

This particular subject fire’s me up, I can’t stand it when children are being mistreated and not truly loved, but I do support discipline when it is called for, children need love and a guiding direction from parents. Believe it or not, children do  appreciate boundaries. Parents: buy this book if you want to learn how to love your kid- “How to Really Love Your Child” by Ross Campbell, M.D. Believe me, it works. Talk to my Mom about it!

Loving unconditionally results in individuals stop playing mental control and false guilt games over each other and “Soap Opera” dramas to control particular individual’s lives.

Note: This is NOT the “peace, man” hippy lingo from the 60’s or the charismatic movement’s interpretation of “love”, and “name it and claim it, health and wealth” people of today (see my main page if you want to know what I believe in).

The non-emotional meaning of Unconditional Love as truly taught in the Bible:

1 Corinthians 13:4-7, “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things”.

Anyone who is constantly under the constraint of conditional love by your family and friends, talk to your Heavenly Father, God, He is the true One that fully knows what unconditional love means.

He will help you figure out and get through whatever situation you are in.

We all could need a reminder on this particular subject.

February-Thinking in Pink

 

 

Hey Y’all!

I am currently working on a little piece about color theory. I’ll post that up as soon as it’s done.

Do any of you associate months with colors and finishes?

I do! I guess it’s a developed habit from observing nature as it changes each season. I realized that almost every month/season I rearrange my furniture, nicknacks, deco & accessories that my husband and I have collected so far according to this list:

January: Icy colors, silver, clear glass, icy blue and sea green (picture the beautiful glaciers in Alaska).

February: All kinds of pinks to soft raspberry reds (sorry guys and my hubby! ) with white and dark chocolate brown, a soft light gold with silver, and accents of light sea green (not too yellow though!).

March-May: Baby colors, soft cool and warm colors (think Easter colors), natural and painted white wicker (like the old handmade easter baskets).

June-August: Vibrant Mediterranean colors, wrought iron, stucco (european style).

Sept.-November: Fall colors, natural woods, stained woods, mixed in with light sky blue (winter sky blue), and silver .

December: White, winter sky blue, silver, clear and opaque glass, icy sea green, (as main colors). Cranberry red, vibrant deep green, and soft fruity colors as accent colors.

New Chihuahua Art!!

Hey Everyone!

Just to let all of y’all know,  I have finally added a new section to my store called, TC’s Chihuahuas. I have a ton of pictures of Dosie Doe, and several other Chihuahuas that I will be adding artwork and posting them up as a collection in my store.

The Science in Fine Arts

Hi Everyone!

I thought that I would add another Category to my blog here. I want to approach this subject of thought in today’s title as something fun to talk about.

I have had several individuals in the past express to me that they want to learn and understand more about color theory, rendering, drafting, and 3D illustrations. So I am going to post “TC-Fine Arts Tutoring” in nugget formats on various subjects that I have had training and experience in.

Having studied and majored in the Fine Arts (Visual Communications side of Fine Arts) for my Bachelor degree, I do believe that there is a bit of “Fine Science” mixed in there also. Before working on my Bachelor’s, I had worked in the field of interior design/architecture as a Interior Design Intern (with my 2yr. technical degree). My major wasn’t in the arts as most would think. It was actually in science (Associates of Applied Science, Interior Design Technology). I always get a kick out of it. Someone thinks: Interior Design/Decorating =”Fru-Fru-Fluff Stuff”. Well, not with the kind of training taught at my college! We did color theory, material and textiles, drafting (by hand & AutoCAD), isometrics, rendering, and all with an approach with scientific study and investigation. We even went into the intensive study of how to professionally run and manage a business/firm. Yes, even as an “artist/designer”, I do use time management! I will approach each of these subjects in later posts.

Here are the definitions of the words, Fine Arts and Science, by the Oxford American Dictionary:

Since Fine Arts is considered an aesthetic creativity of the intellect (now don’t get lost y’all! ) yet it is an “activity requiring great skill or accomplishment”, how can it not be helped to have the need to “systematically study” the so called “visual aesthetics” in order to reach the level of “Fine”?

What do artists (painters, graphic designers, illustrators, textile designers, mural artists, and etc.) and Interior Designers/Decorators do in common? Before they approach their project they must use their intellect (brain) and study the environment in which their “creative aesthetic” will be used in. Now, some people might address to me, well the “Modern Fine Artists” don’t need to study they just “do it” and use their “feelings” to focus their guidance to create their “great art”. Well, here’s an example, the artists that might “emotionally” throw paint at a canvas and call it Fine Art (not to mention earn a million bucks by it). He/she is using their brain to tell their arm to throw the glob of paint they have in their hand or paint brush. Where’s the emotion in that? They are using intellect without wanting to admit it! So there!

Ok, continuing the intellectual/study part after rabbit trailing a bit: A textile artist must decide what kind of fibers to use for their creation. You don’t want to use silk for designing all-weather durable umbrellas, it wouldn’t work. A decorator must understand the client’s needs, likes and dislikes, and the goals that must be accomplished before they go in and redecorate the interior/exterior.

Then people ask, well what about the “experimentation” side of science, where’s that in art? Um, well, you know all of the questionnaires given out to clients, sketches, drawings, pencil drawings, mock-ups, models, 3d-renditions, sample textile and material swatches and it’s endurance under fire, weather, and abrasion, and etc.? Well, that’s us (Fine Artists) studying the behavior of the subject at hand (our artistic project) and experimenting with it before creating the real thing. Well, I hope most people approach it that way.

I do believe that creativity can be mixed in with systematic structure.

A New Week – Take 2

Hey Y’all!!

Boy, it’s been a great start to this week. I have added a bunch of new items in my store. Y’all are welcome to come take a look if you like. There are new items that are photographs taken on recent trips in the past year.

Today I am continuing working on more pieces and smaller items for my store.

It was warm enough to leave my
balcony door open yesterday for
Dosie Doe (our long hair Chihuahua)
to go in and out all day. I was walking
by the door several times throughout
the day (I work from home), and I just
had to take a picture of her. Dosie had
brought her Teddy Bear (her favorite toy)
out onto the balcony with her. She loves to
look out and watch what’s going on outside.

A new week!

I have a list full of things to do this week. It has been a fun start to this new year! Lot’s of busy things to do with our family, our Church, and my business. I am enjoying this new blog. My old blog was great for getting started last year, and I had learned a lot about the world of “blogging”. Now, I’m ready for the “next level”. I love to learn new things and always improve what I already know.

I love this time of year, where we live, we are lucky if it get’s below 40 degrees during the day, unless an ice storm comes, but that doesn’t happen often. I enjoy every moment of the cold weather! This type of weather helps feed my creativity for my artwork and business. I have so many ideas coming to me in the past week!

Well, I’d better go for now.

Y’all take a look at my brother’s site: www.youcomprehend.wordpress.com he is a very smart and talented young guy. He is very helpful to me whenever I have a technical computer question or a question involving using my Mac computer. He breaks down the information into little bite size portions, to where I can “get it” after his first explanation. He’s a great teacher!
